Data Chip

20 x 20 x 3mm. The standard data chip is the universal portable data storage medium. Download or upload using any of your electrical components, camera, audio player, even info from your freezer when you’re out of ice cream.

Data Disc

The other standard data transfer medium is the 75mm optical disc. Favoured by the music industry and computer professionals.

Storage capacity is roughly double that of the data chip.

Equivalent to Hard-Disk 1 (See Netrunning appendix for explanation of data storage rules.

Digital Camera

Compact, efficient and provides you with images in a convenient format. Images are stored on a removeable card or chip which can be read by most good computer appliances.

Digital Chip or Disc Player

Music is disposable, and so is the equipment used to play it. Cheap Japanese consumer electronics still mean that keeping up with new tech is easy and comes in hundreds of colours. The standard formats for audio recordings are now interchangeable with the standard formats for all other portable devices – chip or disc.

Small, portable computer, commonly integrated with a cellphone or similar wireless device. Keep your contact details, address book, diary and other personal details on it. Just don’t lose it, and make sure that it’s passworded…not that that will stop a good hacker.

Pocket Credit Transfer Device

Small device much like a large cellphone with a slot, usually in the bottom to accommodate a SIN card. Takes the difficulty out of credit transactions when you can’t get to a bank, just enter your SIN-PIN number.
