Two bedrooms, a living room and kitchen/diner and a bathroom.

Apartment, Cube

10 x 10 x 6 foot. A Bed. TV if you pay extra. Phone line if you pay extra. No frills living. At least it’s not a coffin. Just don’t lean on the walls when you’re in the lift and try not to think of what that smell in the lobby is.

Apartment, Penthouse

This is the life. Luxury two bedroom flat at the top of a building with a view of a decent area of town. Secure parking and a security guard that calls you sir when he wishes you good morning. You have hit the big time.

Coffin

A plastic box in a building containing another five hundred identical plastic boxes. A six foot cube with a plastic pallet bed in it. Someone probably died here once. Could be worse, could be a doorway or a dumpster. At least it has a roof and a door. Just don’t sleep too soundly.

Condo

Like a penthouse, only not. Comfortable, spacious apartment with two bedrooms and a large living area. Some even have a dining room. Microwave oven and power-shower. CCTV in all the halls and a corporate security guard.

House, 2 Bedroom

Prime real estate in an out of town urban development. There’s a retail park about a kilometre away and at night the local kids race motorcycles around the streets. Private corporate police drive their cruisers around and there has only been three violent crimes in this square kilometre this week. Things are definitely getting better.

House, 3 Bedroom

Picket fences, two kids and a Sports Utility Vehicle out on the drive – just like every other family on your street. You work for the corporations and in return they give you the option of owning a third of this suburban dream. All you have to give in return is your undying loyalty.

Mansion (5+ Bedrooms)

You are obviously a rock star or a drug lord. Three of your five bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. Two living areas, a games room, study and dining room ensure that the maid is kept bust while you sit by the pool. It can’t last long.

Motel Room

Recent decorating in a neutral colour could be hiding a multitude of sins. The sort of place that hires by the hour and hosts vacuum cleaner sales conventions and illicit business of all kinds. The manager offers you a multitutde of legal and semi-legal services as you check in. Don’t stay long.
